Project Background
Neighboring Countries Economic Development Cooperation Agency (Public Organization) (NEDA) Ministry of Finance has provided assistance to the construction of the Hongsa – Chiangman village road Project in Lao People’s Democratic Republic (Laos PDR), a total distance of 114 kilometers to connect Nan Province – Luang Prabang Province. Currently, the construction has been completed and opened to use, in order to make traveling more convenient, NEDA has approved the technical assistance for the feasibility study and detailed design of Chiangman – Luang Prabang Bridge Project, Lao PDR, which is a bridge over the Mekong River connects Hongsa – Ban Chiangman road to Route no. 13 (Mekong River is approximately 540 meters wide), according to a request for technical assistance form from the Ministry of Finance, Laos PDR. The objective of this project is to facilitate transportation, as well as being a tourism route linking Nan Province – Luang Prabang World Heritage City and supporting the goals of the Hongsa District – Ban ChiangMan village Road Construction Project to connect tourism routes by land from the Ban Huai Kon Border Checkpoint, Chaloem Phrakiat District, Nan Province, to the World Heritage City of Luang Prabang tangibly.
In addition, the construction of the Chiangman-Luang Prabang Bridge will link the transportation network within the Lao PDR and link The transportation network of Thailand and Lao PDR to consistent with Thailand’s strategy of providing the importance of transport links between Thailand and neighboring countries. Which is beneficial to the economies of both countries in terms of investment in the industry, agricultural, tourism and services, the exportation of consumer goods, fuel or goods used in agricultural industry, also affects the people of Lao PDR has a better quality of life from future investments.
